Netflix: Pick Up Bunheads

If you're not familiar with Bunheads, that's ok. Some of the best shows don't generate much buzz until their second season. I believe Bunheads is this kind of show. Allow me to elborate. Bunheads is the kind of show that you grow a relationship with as you watch the episodes. It doesn't hit you all at once, but a few episodes in you find yourself smitten. In true Amy Sherman Palladino fashion, the show revolves around the smaller every day goings on of her quirky and lovable characters. If you were a Gilmore girls fan like me, then you understand. But if you're less familiar with the clever and heart felt writing of these shows, then I can tell you, they are very unique. They tug at your heart and funny bone, often in the same instance. Honestly I had my doubts that it was possible, but by the end of season one I found myself in a "Rory and Lorelai esque" love affair with a new set of characters. And I haven't even mentioned the dancing yet!

So here's the breakdown:the story begins with Michelle Simms, a former ballerina (who is played by two-time Tony Winner, Sutton Foster), who is now working as a Vegas Show girl. On a whim, Michelle marries her long time admirer and moves to the quaint town of Paradise, California. She winds up teaching alongside her new mother-in-law (who is played by the amazing Kelly Bishop!) at her ballet school. The show is made up of an ensemble of amazing female talent, which alone sets it a part from the majority of other shows on TV right now. We get to see the different dynamics of Michelle's relationship with her new mother-in-law, Fanny, as well as how she becomes an unlikely mentor to four of her high school aged students. But it wouldn't be an Amy Sherman Palladino show if there weren't a variety of fun and interesting side characters to fall in love with as well. And can I mention again the dancing!
So, here it is... a look at why Bunheads deserves a new home at Netflix. Click the link and try not to fall in love, I dare you! (Special thanks to the person who put this youtube montage together!)
I'm looking at you, Netflix! I think you need a show like this to add to your already impressive roster (14 Emmy noms this year!) You know how to support your shows and Bunheads is top quality television. It's a perfect match! A no-brainer, if you will. You see, this is the kind of show that transcends the age divide. It's a family show but it doesn't talk down to it's audience. All ages can appreciate and relate to the everyday ups and downs of these characters. It's a clever show for a smart audience and I know you like shows like that (House of Cards *coughcough*). And, as a self-proclaimed TV snob, I can tell you this one is a gem! I would say there need to be more family shows like it, but honestly no one can write a show like Amy Sherman Palladino. It would be a true feather in your cap to have one of her shows on Netflix. I am confident that Bunheads will find it's audience with you. It already has a strong loyal base that have been very vocal about getting it back on air. If there was ever a show that deserved a second chance, this is it. Let's make this happen!
Bunheads fans, you know what to do... sign, share, tweet, and facebook this EVERYWHERE. 100,000 strong. Let's do this! #savebunheads
