Please sign and share this petition in an effort to save the Florida Panthers and other animals from the frequent motor vehicle accidents. The number of Panther losses is astounding and pretty equal to the record of those on the endangered lists. We need to encourage state legislators to implement some plans and programs that will save these and all animals from death by motorists.
The number of animal deaths like the Florida Panthers is continually on the rise due to deaths by motor vehicles. A record number of panthers were set on the 2012 endangered lists but it is feared those killed by vehicles is a close match within the southwest Florida area.
Another carcass of a Florida panther was found just recently as stated by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials, making this already the 19th big cat killed by a motor vehicle just this year in Collier County; 19 too many. This record matches the numbers recorded in all of Florida just a couple of years ago. The new carcass discovered appeared to be a young female of around 3 to 4 years of age.
Florida panthers are dwindling in numbers with only 100 to180 of them remaining in the wild throughout all of the United States. Road collisions are responsible for a vast majority of these losses. We are urging Florida to implement some plans that will restrict these animals from crossing in the path of moving motor vehicles and keep them in the forestry wildlife areas where they are safer.
