We have had these races in Penticton for many years, and for as many years, the City has benefited from the added tourism and attention..
but The City of Penticton has never requested feedback or the opinions of the Business owners that end up losing revenues due to the street being closed for the races, nor do they offer any solutions or benefits in lieu of.
We aren't against the races or the injection of tourist dollars, what we ARE against is the fact that the city is able to adjust the route (like the many other races in the area) to allow the majority of Main st (mainly the Entire Downtown) to remain open to customers and the like, but they chose not to.
There are many other races that take place in Penticton during the Spring and Summer months, and they have routes that do not affect the local economy in such a negative way.
We are asking ONLY to change the route to allow Main Street to continue business as usual even if the race day falls on a Sunday.
By signing this Petition, I (signor) agree that changes need to be made to the routes so as to not affect regualr business practices and revenues.
