Texas Senators: Don't Support Donald Trump!

As a Texan resident who has lived here my entire life, I cannot fathom how any Texas politicians could even think about supporting Donald Trump for the United States presidency — especially in the wake of his ongoing anti-Hispanic rhetoric and awful comments following the massacre in Orlando.

Senator Ted Cruz has not decided yet, and Senator John Cornyn is. Texans pride ourselves on celebrating diversity and culture, taking care of and respecting our neighbors, and using southern hospitality to make the world a better place.

As a Mexican-American, I'm disgusted that he has called Mexican immigrants rapists, killers, and murderers. As a woman, I'm shocked at how he has repeatedly objectified women as nothing more than something pretty to look at. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I'm repulsed by how he used the recent mass shooting in Orlando to further a political agenda for his own gain. And as a human being in general, I cannot believe how he dehumanizes every community of people that isn't just like him.

If enough Texans raise our voices, we can convince Sessions and Cruz that supporting Donald Trump is the wrong choice, as he has done nothing and will do nothing else but spout hatred and divide us -- not just as Americans, but as Texans as well.

Let's come together as Texans and as Americans to do what is right.

Senators Cornyn and Cruz:

Donald Trump has done nothing during his campaign but divide this country, and his rhetoric has done the same thing in Texas. As Texans, we celebrate being unique as Texans, and the diversity in our state. Donald Trump has never and will never share our message, and his views shouldn't represent Texas, like they would if our politicians back him.

I'm shocked that any Texas politician would even think about lending their support to Donald Trump. Please do what is right for Texas, and don't support Donald Trump. Work to unite us, not divide us.
