SAVE the ALBION BRIDGE. California's last tall wooden bridge!

  • by: Nita Ishcomer
  • recipient: CALTRANS (Ca. Dept. of Transportation). Significant politicians and agencies.

CALTRANS is currently reviewing different options for the future of the ICONIC ALBION BRIDGE. Most options call for the demolition of the wooden bridge, and construction of a new "modern" bridge. A vast majority of coastal residents (myself included) want CALTRANS to "rehabilitate" this bridge, resurfacing and adding structural reinforcements. The Albion Bridge is part of our character, charm and historical lineage. Public pressure has been successful in dealings with CALTRANS in the past.  Nationalbridges.com has the bridge rated amongst the safest in the U.S.!
Built: 1944
