World Aids Day Dec 1, 2012, Save Ryan White Care Act Permanantly

  • by: Aurora Griffin
  • recipient: President Obama, Federal Congressional houses and Senate, State level legislators

As a person that has lived with this deadly virus since 1996 and gone thru many medications to maintain just living, our legislators are all to often put this necessary piece on the chopping block.
Hiv/Aids is not going away and with the new reccommendations that Everyone between ages of 15 to 65 get tested for it is paramount.  I contracted the virus via my husband who didnt know he had it, had assumed V A tested for it, and it wasnt til he was near death they finally ask him can we test you?  well he lived another 8 yrs and they were part of ending his life early.

Outreach for this preventable disease is out there, but when we get republicans wanting to outlaw all forms of birth control, and wanting to decide what women do with their own bodies, educational standards are failing with the infection rates we see daily, provide this and means not to pass this virus on, educate the public that it can happen to Anyone and that it is better to know your status than possibly passing it on to others.  I shudder to think of a world, had the gop won, 3/4 of all the people would be sick and passing hiv for a religious idea, this is science boys, get tested.   This is my 5th set of medications and if/when medications stop so will alot of lives, Save Ryan White Care act,  Thousands depend on state adap (drug assistance) or careassist in oregons case, we need more funding and less waiting list.

It does Not matter the means you contracted the virus, but it is possible to live a healty life With the virus, if only our politicians would comply.
