Are you opposed to the construction of a Travelodge on Fieldhouse Lane?
A pre-planning meeting has now taken place, which means plans will soon be formally submitted. If these plans are approved and a Travelodge is built, parking will worsen, and the presence of a health and leisure centre on your doorstep, will be under threat.
The proposed site, opposite The Marlow Club, is currently leased as car parking to local businesses and used by the leisure centre as overflow parking for its members. If the plans go ahead, many cars will be forced to park on the roadside, worsening the already poor state of car parking on Globe Park and threatening the future of The Marlow Club due to an enforced inability to provide for its members.
The Marlow Club has alternatively proposed converting the site into a yoga and pilates studio, but this has been immediately refused by the council.
The Globe Park Action Group is opposed to the construction of a Travelodge at this particular site on the basis that parking facilities will worsen and a long established local business will suffer. We would like to invite the companies of Globe Business Park and residents of Marlow to join forces and resist the proposed use of this site and we welcome your input.
