SAVE BANNOCKBURN's GREEN SPACE!

Bannockburn School, located between Haddington/Clyde/Bannockburn/Grey leases its property from the TDSB. The TDSB is financially strapped and requires sufficient funds to renovate schools. Its solution is to sell the deemed excess green space in properties that it owns, likely to developers, in order to raise this capital. The City of Toronto's parks and recreation department has the ability to step in and purchase this land prior to selling it to developers, and rezone it as a park. Please help us to lobby our City Councillor, Karen Stintz, our MPP, Mike Colle, and Toronto's Mayor, Rob Ford, so that we can keep our green space before it is too late. These fields are the only suitable land for our community to operate not for profit soccer and baseball leagues. They also provide much needed green space for running around, flying kites, playing pick up sports and a general safe area for kids, and adults to enjoy in a variety of recreational ways. Please help us to voice our concerns to this short sighted strategy by signing this petition. It is up to the community to rally behind this cause to save our green space.

re: File #B017/14NY - 12 Bannockburn Avenue Severance/Zoning Committee of Adjustment Hearing - May 14, 2014

Dear Committee,

We, the community members of Bannockburn School, oppose the severance and sale of this green space. These fields, which are home to our community baseball and soccer programs, also provide much needed green space for running around, flying kites, playing pick up sports and a general safe area for kids, and adults to enjoy in a variety of recreational ways.

Attached is a petition, with 765 signatures to date, opposing the severance and sale of this green space. This is an extremely important issue to us and our community will continue to rally to save our green space.

Signed,

765 current and past community members.
