Christmas 2016 ~ Thank You President and Mrs. Obama

Dear President & Mrs. Obama:

Thank you so much for eight years of dedicated service to our country! You have both been shining examples of elegance, class and grace representing the United States of America at home and abroad. No doubt, it was challenging to serve as our country's first African-American President and First Lady. Mr. President, we were so proud of our country in 2008 when we elected you into office. In addition to the normal complexities of running a country, we didn't realize you would be subjected to discrimination and unheard of legislative blocking.

Mr. President, you never complained about any of it. You were a role-model that other public figures might emulate on how to be: dignified, calm, thoughtful, kind, inclusive and funny too. The country owes you a huge debt of gratitude for pulling us out of the largest economic downturn since the Great Depression. And, even if some of your legislative legacy is unfairly over turned this next few years, we know how hard you have worked for the American people. We know that and we think you have been an admirable and well-respected leader of the free world. You are a man of character.

To you both, you have carried yourself and your positions with dignity and honor ~ you made us proud as our President and First Lady. Bless you and your family!

Let us pray that love, peace and respect for all will prevail this Christmas and going forward into 2017!
