Tell the USDA to Support Vegetarian Diets!

A USDA advisory panel is discussing the idea of encouraging sustainability in the American diet. Last month, they issued a draft recommendation acknowledging that diets higher in plant-based foods and lower in meat are healthier and better for the environment, and will help "ensure food access for both the current population and future generations."

A USDA endorsement would show the average American that vegetarian diets are indeed healthy, and would convince many to cut down on meat. As the USDA's draft indicates, this would have many benefits, including improved health, less pollution, reduced animal cruelty and an increase in the world's food supply.

The only thing keeping the USDA from supporting lower-meat diets is pressure from the beef industry. Please sign the petition to urge the USDA to support vegetarian diets and to put truthful information above the beef industry's interests!

We, the undersigned, are writing to encourage the USDA to advocate a lower-meat diet.

We understand that a USDA advisory panel is discussing the idea of encouraging sustainability in the American diet.

We are concerned that the beef industry may put pressure on you to avoid advocating a lower-meat diet. We respectfully urge you to release recommendations that support the truth instead of bowing to pressure from meat industry interests. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
