Eleven states have sued the Obama administration over its direction for public schools to allow transgender students to use restrooms that match their gender identities.

The states suing are: Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah, West Virginia, Wisconsin, the Arizona Department of Education, and Maine Gov. Paul LePage.

Sign this petition to urge these states to withdraw their lawsuit and commit to the protection and empowerment of transgender students.

This lawsuit should be taken as a lawsuit against transgender people, especially transgender youth, everywhere. Trans youth are faced with the especially difficult task of finding themselves and their voices in a world that is so often stacked against them being true to who they are. This lawsuit communicates that these states and state officials would prioritize discrimination, fear, and hatred over the safety and security of transgender students.

Sign this petition to urge these states to withdraw their lawsuit and commit to the protection and empowerment of transgender students!
