RETIRE RAM PRASAD THE ELEPHANT CHAINED CAPTIVE FOR 30 YEARS

  • recipient: The Government of India and the Temple holding Ram Prasad

Ram Prasad was brought to the temple near Sangli, India, when he was still a baby. He has been chained there to make money for the Temple and has suffered incredible cruelty. Unable to ever move or walk free, this social animal has lost an ear and has never known freedom and the company of another like him. Although Animal Rahat has been trying to bring some relief through necessary veterinary care, the temple is planning to build on top of where the poor elehant is chained, depriving him even of sunlight. It is time to retire poor Ram Prasad to an elephant sanctuary where he can roam free for the first time in his life. Grant Ram Prasad his retirement from a life of cruelty.

To the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi: we know you to be kind hearted and religious, and this is why I am submitting to you the close to 9000 signatures from all over the world in suort of releasing Ram Prasad, an elephant held in an Indian temple for over 30 years, and chained for that long.

I know that elephants are considered state property in India and this is also why I ask you, Mr. Prime Minister, to hear the plight of all elephants held captive and routinely blinded, abused, and taken away from their natural environment to suffer a lifetime of cruelty for profit and entertainment in the name of religion.

I ask you to please feel empathy for Ram Prasad, a creature that needs your help and support.

I thank you in advance for your efforts to free him and support legislations in India to prevent the abuse of all elephants.

Gratefully,
