New Store Petition
To: The Board of Commissioners, Newton County Georgia
We the undersigned are in favor of and do fully support the proposed new retail development that would house Blackwell’s Grocery. Blackwell’s Grocery and Wayne Blackwell have been a vital part of our community and surrounding area for over 30 years. Blackwell’s Grocery has provided a great service to the City of Mansfield, its residents (both in the city limits and outlying areas) and has been a major adopter of Mansfield Elementary School and other community causes.
We are excited that a local business now has the need to expand and offer even more support to a community such as ours. Mr. Blackwell is committed to expanding the grocery, produce, and meat offerings that Blackwell’s Grocery currently offers. This will enable us (the residents of Newton County and surrounding areas) to shop locally for most of our grocery items. It is our understanding that a hardware offering and pharmacy are part of the long-range plan. This will be a welcome addition as to not have to drive 10 miles or more to facilitate our needs.
It also strengthens our community to know we have a local merchant that purchases its inventory domestically and that all the revenue stays in our community unlike the big box or chain stores.
We ask that you vote in favor of this much needed development that will be an asset to our community for many years to come.
