Petition to establish a State of Michigan “Day of Remembrance” for the Flint, MI Water Crisis

In accordance with the provisions of the January 31, 2016 ratification of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Flint's Resolution Calling for Redress of Grievances for the Flint Water Crisis:
It is requested that the State of Michigan establish a Day of Remembrance to be observed on April 25th of every year, beginning in 2016, by all State of Michigan employees, operations, facilities, and contractors, to commemorate the failure modes and corrective actions pertaining to the Flint Water Crisis of 2016.
On this Day of Remembrance Governor Rick Snyder's historic "Never again!" Civil Responsibilities letter, which addresses causes and solutions to the Flint Water Crisis, will be read aloud by management to all employees during established Remembrance Ceremonies, and propagated to all State employees and State contractors via electronic communications and social media.
It is further recommended, and requested that the week containing the April 25th Day of Remembrance:
• -Be used to schedule State employee and State contractor employee annual training and review activities in regards to current documents and procedures critical to the continued preservation of the Health of the Citizens of Michigan.
• -Be used to exhort the Citizens of Michigan to participate in Local and State meetings and elections in regards to Municipal Services critical to the continued preservation of the Health of the Citizens of Michigan. Governor Rick Snyder's historic "Never again!" Civil Responsibilities letter addressing the conditions that lead to the Flint Water Crisis should be propagated to the Citizens of Michigan via electronic communications and social media.
• - Be used to provide educational programming for all State Public and Charter schools to raise awareness of the importance of proper Environmental Stewardship and Engagement in the Civic Process.
• -State of Michigan and United States flags to be lowered to half mast at all State and State contractor owned and/or managed facilities.
