We are campaigning to make it Mandatory for all convicted Paedophiles to be in the chemical castration program before release.
We need to take whatever steps necessary to protect children from these predators and the physical and psychological trauma they endure from the abuse.
The Chemical castration program includes: - Administration of an anti androgen injection ( Depo-Provera) every three months which blocks the effects of testosterone, virtually eliminating the libido and sexual function and has been shown to reduce aggressive behaviour.
- Taking SSRI anti depressants which are known to inhibit compulsive behaviours and aggression too.
- Regular CBT therapy from a court appointed counsellor to help change their thought processes.
In the countries where this law is already in place (Russia, Poland, Moldova and some US states), this program has been very effective in reducing recividation rates from as high as 97% reoffending without treatment to as low as only 3% with the treatment.
If an offender doesn't show up for their regular treatment they would be in breach of their parole and therefore be sent back to prison.
The chemical castration program is a fraction of the cost of keeping an offender in incarceration when they do re offend without treatment. At approximately £40,000 per prisoner each year, if you prevent 100 further crimes that's £4 Million less to come from the tax payer. Not to mention the drain on the NHS to treat the physical and mental injuries to their victims.
