Help Prevent Further Traffic Congestion along Peachtree

We can all agree that Peachtree is a popular arterial route through the city of Atlanta. Recently it has come to the attention of some of the residents of Buckhead that a new development proposed for Peachtree from 2815-2839 (between Rumson Road and Sheridan Drive) will ultimately request a new driveway/road cut/curb cut to gain access to the state route for increased ingress/egress by car to the property. This development will also have access via driveways on Rumson Road to the side/south and Vivian Lane to the rear/east.

What this means to you and why you should sign:
1.) Every driveway on Peachtree is another opportunity for an accident between a vehicle and a pedestrian, cyclist or another vehicle. Safety should be of paramount concern. Especially with so many schools and churches in the area. This cut was last projected as 1 lane of ingress and 1 of egress, that's 24 feet of contested sidewalk.

2.) The additional point of friction, another driveway is another opportunity for someone to stop in front of you to turn into the deck.

3.) Opposing driveways mid-block, such as the conflict that this driveway would present (being opposite 4 residential multi-family properties and 3 driveways), create additional opportunities for vehicular accidents due to the limited field of view.

4.) For years, access to the properties opposite the new development (2814, 2828, Cathedral Towers and the Crestwood) have had unopposed and sole access to their personal properties via Peachtree. This will likely change that forever.

Please consider signing this petition if you meet both of the following two requirements:
1.) You live in the state of Georgia. (It's a state route and that impacts all of us)
2.) You travel the stretch of Peachtree between Rumson Road and Sheridan Drive periodically either on foot, bike or by car. (If you use it, you should weigh in)

The individuals who have signed this petition agreed with at least one of the four arguments posed below. They felt strongly enough to put their name down in hopes of promoting change and a more forward thinking nature in Buckhead. Please read the lead-in to this petition and review/reflect those that have signed. It should be noted that most of those who have signed are from Atlanta and surrounding areas.  This is your opportunity to support the city's goals as well as those of anyone who uses this major artery.
