On October 3, 2011, Daniel was put into a gas chamber in Florence, Alabama along with 17 other stray dogs. Carbon monoxide was pumped into the chamber. Rarely has an animal survived this ordeal, but this improbable survival story became a reality for Daniel. By some miracle, when the gas chamber door was opened, Daniel walked out, wagging his tail.

The Animal Control Officer, lacking the heart to make a second attempt, put Daniel up for adoption. With the help of New Jersey based Eleventh Hour Rescue, Daniel was brought to New Jersey where the Dwyer family adopted him into their forever home.

Each year, millions of animals are euthanized through this process, which many people do not realize still exists. Daniel is using his second chance at life to advocate for banning gas chambers through "Daniel's Law". He also promotes pet adoption, and "speaks" to the importance of spay/neuter programs.

Daniel made a promise to the animals that didn't make it that day... to dedicate his life to banning gas chambers & saving lives. Thanks so much for your support in helping him achieve this goal.
