EQUAL TREATMENT of YOUNG CHILDREN in MARTINEZ, CALIFORNIA SCHOOLS

Recently, the MUSD Board discussed the issue of A/C needed in two of their elementary schools. Board member Denise Elsken stated that 'the children of Las Juntas El. come from homes of which 95% probably do not have A/C so those children are better ACLIMATED to the heat', than the children from the more affluent neighborhood who according to her acertians apparenlty ALL have A/C. The board subsequently voted for the more affluent area school to receive the A/C installation.

* We, members of this community and citizens of AMERICA, want to tell this board that the last 20 years of treating these kids as second class citizens is OVER! You are using TAXPAYER dollars and we the taxpayers DEMAND that the children at Las Juntas receive the A/C first and now! And Denise Elsken be censured for her obvious discriminatory practices, bias and influence over this board when she should be representing our children equally!

Immense disparity between social classes, in one small community, especially those disparities that further penalize working class families, is reprehensible and intolerable! Our schools and administrators should be teaching and promoting fairness, tolerance, and EXTRA effort bringing our children UP, not putting them further down the socio economic ladder.
