What about Non-Spanish Speaking Children? More Dual Language Immersion programs needed in Patterson.

        • In this day and age, Spanish is needed and spoken everywhere.

Currently, Patterson has two dual immersion programs (Walnut Grove and Grayson). Children in grades K-5 are taught to speak two languages, English and Spanish, equally. To take advantage of this great opportunity, parents must contend with exhaustive waiting lists each year for a few open spots. Consequently, losing out on the great opportunity for their children to become bi-lingual. Your tax dollars pay for this!  All children should have the same opportunity.  We understand funding is scarce and implementation in all schools is nearly impossible at this time. Therefore, we are asking Patterson Unified School District to add at least one to two Dual Immersion programs for Kindergarten next school year 2013-2014. Grants and funding are there fellow Patterson-ites! We just need to ask!!! Give our children a brighter future - yours, mine, your family member's, your neighbor's, your friends, your co-workers. Sign this petition and join us at the designated District's Board Meeting to be heard! (TBA)

Key Reasons:

  • English is America's primary language, but Spanish is just as common.
  • Focus on the next generation, provide all children with a vital skill needed in today's society.
  • Give Non-Spanish Speaking Children and opportunity to learn Spanish, too!
  • To prepare ALL children for the 21st century economy.
  • Spanish is necessary for 21st  jobs!
  • Increase multicultural skills and diversity awareness.
  • Exposure to other cultures and ethnic groups.
  • Research has proven children in their early development thrive on learning and their learning capacity is enormous.
  • Evidence has proven learning in a dual immersed environment does not hinder learning.
