Pop star Lady Gaga's Born This Way Foundation was established as an anti-bullying nonprofit to help inspire youth and build safe spaces in their communities. So supporters were shocked when a recent tax report showed out of $2.6 million in donations, only $5,000 was given as a single grant in 2012.
The report lists various vague expenses such as $50,000 on social media, $300,000 on strategic consulting, $150,000 on philanthropic consulting, and a whopping $808,661 on an undefined "other." The total of all expenses came to $1.85 million. It was careless to throw money toward these dubious expenses when so little actually went toward grants to help youth. It is an insult to supporters to mislead them and abuse their trust and donations.
Based on the figures in this year's tax report, the Born This Way Foundation is a vanity project at best. Please sign the petition to tell Lady Gaga to increase transparency in her nonprofit and use the bulk of its donations to help youth, not her image.

Based on expenses, the Born This Way Foundation has not been prioritizing youth as it claims, and does not appear to be a legitimate organization. The nonprofit needs to clean up its act. It needs more transparency, and a significant percentage of donations need to go directly toward helping youth. We respectfully urge you to make changes in your budget and put a greater focus on helping youth. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider our petition.
