Plastic wrapping is everywhere, most things we buy is covered in plastic wrapping but food wrapping seems to be the most used. The UK is littered with plastic everywhere, from the beach and the countryside, to the streets. In Sweden, they recycle plastic bags and plastic wrapping at recycling stations but we don't have that here on the same level. The plastic problem is a worldwide one but I feel we could be doing better here in the UK.
I want to request of the government to either have more recycling stations (such as the one's at supermarkets) where one can recycle plastic bags and to include plastic wrapping also at these stations.... Or have the recycling centers (where the reycling is processed from the household bins) accept plastic bags and wrapping. Or if none of these are viable then I hope that a different solution can be found so we can fix this problem!!
It would be great to begin to recycle plastic wrapping and plastic bags so more of it doesn't end up in our sea's, in our countryside and on our streets as these are the things I personally find the most hanging around.
I also understand that plastic is useful in modern existence but we have to find a better solution as to how we manage our plastic waste. Perhaps in the future a long term solution would be that all wrapping for everyday items and food is made from compostable materials. But for now, recycling the plastic we have and are using would be a great start !
