There have been several well-published child and animal deaths recently. I would like people to stop bringing their pets with them in their cars and leave them home where they will be safe from being roasted to deaths in cars. I would also like to help prevent children in carseats from being accidentally (or on purpose) left to roast in hot cars. Recently, I saw a sign on the door at Walmart (yay, Walmart!) telling people to remember to check their cars for young children. This sign was not, perhaps, worded as well or strongly as I would have liked, but at least it was there!
I would like to see signs in the doors of all stores (and Clinics, Hospitals, Veterinary Offices, etc.), stating "Please do not leave children or pets in your cars! In summer months this can be DEADLY! Pets may enjoy the ride, but, honestly, it is better to leave them home, inside (or well-shaded) with plenty of water with ice in it. Your children are precious. You should never leave them alone in a vehicle. Bring them inside with you or please leave them home with a babysitter!"
