Save the Prairie Chicken!

The prairie chicken population has declined as much as ninety percent in recent years. So why has the United States Fish and Wildlife Service taken this amazing bird off the endangered species list?

Fish and Wildlife has caved to pressure from oil and gas interests. Big oil and gas want to mine and run roughshod over the prairie chicken's historic habitat without restraint or regulation.

Don't let them! The good news is that USFWS is still evaluating the prairie chicken's endangered status. But they need to hear from you that you want to save this majestic species for the future. Please join me in asking the FWS to relist the prairie chicken as an endangered species.

Dear Mr. Ashe:

I read with some astonishment that your service has caved to pressure from big oil and gas. Your decision to remove the prairie chicken from the endangered species list is short sighted at best. You are probably aware that, by some estimates, the prairie chicken population has declined by ninety percent. This bird obviously needs the protection of the endangered species list. You should protect wildlife and wildlife habitat from big businesses that value only their own profit. Please relist the prairie chicken as endangered.
