Include the Greens in TV Leaders' Debates Before the 2015 General Election

The BBC, Sky News, ITV and Channel 4 have announced they will include UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage -- but not the Greens, the Scottish National Party (SNP) and Plaid Cymru -- in TV debates ahead of next year's general election.

Demand that the Green Party, the SNP and Plaid Cymru be included in the TV leaders' debates ahead of the 2015 General Election.

UKIP leader Farage has been invited to take part in a TV debate along with Prime Minister David Cameron, Nick Clegg of the Liberal Democrats and Ed Miliband from Labour.

The broadcasters claim that the proposed format for the debate reflects the "changed political landscape" since the prime ministerial debates in 2010. UKIP has its first MP after the success of Douglas Carswell in the Clacton by-election -- but the Greens have had an MP for the past four years.

As Green Party leader Natalie Bennett points out, the broadcasters are simply showing how "out of touch they are with the public mood" and unaware of how "fed up" the public is with "the three business-as-usual parties."

The Greens and the SNP are considering legal action against the broadcasters.

Broadcasters need to include those who provide real alternatives to Westminster elites in TV debates. Tell them to include the Greens, the SNP and Plaid Cymru in TV leaders' debates.

To the BCC, Sky News, ITV and Channel 4,

We, the undersigned, urge you to include the Green Party, the SNP and Plaid Cymru be included in the TV leaders' debates ahead of the 2015 General Election.

For these reasons, we demand that the Greens, the SNP and Plaid Cymru be included in TV leaders' debates.
