STOP THE VIOLATION OF ACCESS TO MEDICAL RECORDS WITOUT THE OWNERS KNOWLEDGE

Medical records within Australia can be obtained without a person's knowledge or consent. If the records are subpoenaed by the court anyone can access your most private details and there is nothing can be done about it as you are not informed or made aware it is even happening to you. I quote from the office of Legal Services " Those records were obtained lawfully by subpoena issued by the court. There is no requirement in such circumstances that the person to whom the records relate consent to or be notified of the subpoena" (end quote). In other words your most private details can be accessed even when a person is abusing their power over you to do so. Please help me change this law and act of violation against a persons most private and personal details. Lets make the law state a person is to be notified when their records are subpoenaed so they can at least prepare legal representation. Let the law state why the courts feel the records have a right to be accessed in the first place and not allow them subpoenaed without a good reason. Protect yourself and your medical records and sign this petition so I can fight the Australian legal system against this abhorrent act against a person's private medical records.
