The Great Barrier Reef is the world's largest coral reef system composed of over 2,900 individual reefs and 900 islands stretching for over 2,300 kilometres (1,400 mi) over an area of approximately 344,400 square kilometres (133,000 sq mi). The reef is located in the Coral Sea, off the coast of Queensland, Australia.
makeing even half of this are a protected part of the ocean will save some of the 95% of ocean species that reside in these waters. dredging ( pulling up) of the coral reefs is destroying the oceans eco system which will affect our lives here on land greatly in just a matter of years. parts of the coral sea are already protected but thanks to Sylvia Earle, who is a beacon of hope and knowledge when it comes to the ocean. just because we cannot see the damage we do on the surface doesn't mean it doesn't exist! SIGN THIS PITITION TO MAKE DREDGING ILLEGAL on our beautiful reefs, because when its gone, its gone.

Update #17 years ago
we hope to reach 100,000 signatures by the end of this year! once we reach half a million I will be able to involve coral breeders and planters in hopes they will want to help me by providing their research for the cause!

we will be suing the Australian government for selling off the ocean for fracking and destroying the fragile ecosystem, its a long battle but worth it!
