There is over 3 million Displaced Syrian Reguees who have fled to Syria's immediate neighbours Turkey, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. There is over 6.5 million who are internally displaced within Syria. Canada has only accepted 10,000 asylum applicants and has not yet committed to fulfilling this number. An embarrassing amount when compared to countries like Germany who has the the largest number of projected new asylum claims in this year alone. Last year the USA was 2nd with 121,200 asylum applications, followed by Turkey (87,800), Sweden (75,100), and Italy (63,700).
We call on the Canadian government to increase the number of refugees seeking safety within Canada. We must not allow this crisis to go on any longer! What good this is country for if we turn a blind eye toward those in need?! Something must be done today!
