Protect Helena and Aurora Range (Bungalbin) Western Australia

You can protect Helena and Aurora Range (Bungalbin) from the imminent threat of iron ore mining by signing this petition.  Helena and Aurora Range (Bungalbin) is of National Heritage value to Australia.

We are asking the Western Australian Government to gazett Helena and Aurora Range as a Class A National Park.  Currently Helena and Aurora Range is a Conservation Park that allows mining.

Dear Honourable Albert Jacob JP MLA,

We request that Helena and Aurora Range (Bungalbin), a banded ironstone formation range of outstanding conservation and heritage values, be fully protected from mining. We consider that Helena and Aurora Range (Bungalbin) is worthy of the highest level of protection, as a Class A Conservation Reserve, in its entirety.

The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) in Western Australia tabled its EPA Annual Report 2012-2013 on 16 October 2013 (just last week) and expresses concern about the imbalance between development and conservation for the Banded Iron Formation (BIF) ranges - adopting the presumption against any further development on Helena and Aurora Range. This is awesome. However, the Western Australian government still follows the policy of placing economic considerations first.
