Reopen Langley Speedway in Langley, BC, Canada

Metro Vancouver has publicly stated that they have serious budget shortfalls for their regional parks and that they welcome proposals for business  opportunities that will generate revenues from their parks to sustain the park system.
Therefore, they are seriously considering our proposal to rebuild and reopen Langley Speedway as a multi purpose venue. The track operated as part of the park from the time it was purchased by the government in 1969 until they discontinued the lease in 1985. In those years, the track generated significant revenue for the park and was a self sustaining enterprise. It can be once again, to the benefit of all taxpayers and to charitable organizations and Park Partners.
As a non-profit Society, the Langley Speedway Historical Society would operate the track under the watchful eye of Metro Vancouver through a mutually beneficial lease agreement similar to those of the speedway's past. We would pay all costs to rebuild the facility, operate it, maintain it and work with other groups to conduct fundraisers and a variety of events to benefit the community.
What we are proposing is 14 days of the year for racing. The remainder can be used for any number of different events, all withing a 25 acre portion of the 1400 acre park. That is less than 2% of the park for less than 4% of the year!
The possibilities are endless, if the facility is once again an integral part of the park. With your support, it can be.

Thank you!
