Tell Chris Christie to Reject Fear-Based Anti-Refugee Policies in New Jersey!

Four million Syrians -- most of them women and children -- are seeking refuge from the terror in their homelands. 30 state governors want to turn them away.

New Jersey's governor Chris Christie holds an even tougher stance than most. In a statement, he admitted he would not even accept young orphans from Syria: "The fact is that we need appropriate vetting," he said, "and I don't think orphans under five are being, you know, should be admitted into the United States at this point. But you know, they have no family here. How are we going to care for these folks?"

The reluctance to accept Syrian refugees is based in fear and anti-Muslim bigotry. Rejecting Syrian immigrants is exactly what terrorist groups want. In reality, refugees are likely to enrich our country. Studies show that refugees in the U.S. are employed at equal or higher rates than the native-born population. And 39 percent of Syrian immigrants come in with college degrees.

Please don't let more innocent women and children fall victim to terrorists because of fear-based stereotypes. Sign the petition to urge Chris Christie to embrace refugees in New Jersey!

We, the undersigned, are concerned with your stance on the four million Syrian refugees seeking an escape from terror in their homeland.

We are particularly concerned with your stance on children. In a statement, you admitted you would not even accept orphans under five years old.
