No Puppy Farms in Custer County, CO

Next Tuesday, December 9th the Custer County Planning and Zoning Commission will be considering a request for a Special Use Permit to allow a new commercial dog breeding kennel in rural Custer county. While Colorado has modest regulations in place to protect animals in breeding facilities, enforcement falls to the State Department of Agriculture, which is severely understaffed to monitor operations in remote areas like ours. Additionally, our small county does not have sufficient local regulations or enforcement potential to overcome this lack of oversight and to ensure the well-being of the animals. Please take a moment to add your name to this petition asking our local officials to deny this application for a Special Use Permit.

Please take a moment to share your voice with our county zoning officials before the December 9 commentary on a proposed commercial puppy breeding kennel.
