Petition to Support the Opening of Studio Bar

  • by: Seb Lye
  • recipient: City Councillor Mike Layton

This petition is being circulated in order to let residents, business owners and those who work in the area show their support for the opening of a new arts-focused restaurant in the Trinity Bellwoods neighborhood.  Studio Bar plans to offer top quality food and beverage service in a unique, innovative way.

Studio Bar will offer a new school deli-style cheese and charcuterie menu (fine cured and smoked meats) featuring locally sourced items.  Along with a regular menu, food-based events called “community tables” will be featured regularly. These events will provide a platform for professional and capable amateur guest chefs who want to present something out of the ordinary, but don’t always have the venue to do so. The result is that every dinner event will be wildly different and exciting. Food service will be carried out from Studio Bar’s cold kitchen/food service station during phase I of operations. Catering equipment will be used on occasion to compliment the facilities when needed. Phase II of Studio Bar will be the development of a top rate kitchen (pending zoning approval from the City of Toronto).

Along with the creation of new employment opportunities, Studio Bar intends to vitalize the neighborhood by providing a much-needed place to host collaborative gallery events, occasional live music shows, food and beverage product launches, birthday and wedding parties, corporate functions and other special events. Furthermore, through its management’s longstanding love of the arts, Studio Bar will carry the underlying goal of becoming a cultural hub that not only showcases but also fosters artistic talent in this city. Our entire team was born and raised in Toronto’s incredible West end, and we harbour a deep love for this city. We believe that if given this opportunity, we could make a real impact in helping Toronto flourish into its full artistic and cultural potential.

By signing this petition you are stating you believe that contrary to motion MM26.24 passed by Councillor Mike Layton, Studio Bar is in the City of Toronto and District Ward 19’s “public interest”. Furthermore you are more directly stating that you support the opening of Studio Bar at 824 Dundas Street West.
