Proposal for GUILFORD, CT RESIDENTS ONLY: No handheld devices (cell phones/iPods/gaming systems) during the school day for grades K-8

Purpose of Petition

Shoreline Tech is recommending that the Board of Education adopt a new policy that would apply to all Guilford K-8 grade schools. This policy would state that there will be no handheld devices (cell phones/ Ipods/gaming systems) during the school day to allow for a better educational and social environment.

Currently there are different rules regarding device usage across school levels.  We would like to optimize the learning and social environments, and ensure no usage during classroom, lunch, and hallway time from the start of the day to the end of the day.
