Ask GrubHub to Stop Listing Restaurants That Serve Fois Gras and Shark Fin Soup!
GrubHub, the most popular food ordering company on the Web, allows users to quickly find and order from restaurants that match their preferences and location. GrubHub aims to filter out restaurants that offer foods that are illegal to serve in their location, but they still show menus that include foods controversial for the excessive animal cruelty involved in their production.
Shark fin soup and fois gras are still legal in most of the U.S. It's commonly known that fois gras is produced by force-feeding geese or ducks through a tube that runs down their throats. In the shark finning trade, hunters cut fins off the animals and release the rest of the still-live body into the water to drown, starve or get eaten by other fish. The trade is also poorly regulated: a 2012 study found eight different species of endangered sharks in soup across the United States.
Displaying menus that offer these menu items helps support businesses that engage in gratuitous animal cruelty. Please sign the petition to urge GrubHub to take a stand against animal cruelty and to ban restaurants that offer fois gras or shark fin soup on their menus!
