Congress: Don't Defund Sea Grant!

Sea Grant, a small coastal research program that funds 3,000 scientists and supports sustainable fishing practices, is scheduled for defunding if the Trump Administration has its way.

The program, part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association (NOAA), may be small, but it's responsible for funding important work and promoting environmental sustainability. Created in 1966, Sea Grant's funded research has illuminated environmental problems like rising sea levels and ocean acidification. The program also finances projects that help combat environmental dangers.

The Trump Administration's proposed budget cuts funding for the NOAA and guts the Sea Grant program. In the end, Congress finalizes the budget, so they have the power to keep these vital programs in place. Please sign the petition to urge Congress not to cut Sea Grant or the NOAA in the final budget.

I am concerned that Sea Grant, a small coastal research program that funds 3,000 scientists and supports sustainable fishing practices, is scheduled for defunding.

I understand that you plan to cut funding for the NOAA and gut the Sea Grant program. I respectfully urge you to take another look at this program and the important research it supports, and reconsider your plans to gut funding. Thank you for taking the time to read and consider this petition.
