Cancel Site C Dam in B.C.

BC Hydro, the British Columbia Hydro and Power Authority, wants to build the Site C dam on the Peace River in the northeastern part of the province. The project is predicted to cost $8 billion and would be the third dam on the river.

We do not need the 1,100 megawatt Site C dam!

Building the dam will flood 107 kilometres of the Peace River and its tributaries and destroy invaluable farmland inhabited by many families for generations. Migratory birds and species including the western toad and the short-eared owl will be harmfully, and irreversibly, affected.

We do not need the power from this Dam. We have lots of natural gas which could be used. Construction of this Dam would mean further loss of animal habitat and productive farmland.

B.C.'s independent power producers contend that an "alternative portfolio" of projects including a wind farm could meet the province's energy demands for $1 billion less than the Site C dam project.

A final decision about whether or not to go ahead and build the Site C dam will happen sometimes in November. Stop the plans to build the Site C dam in British Columbiia!
