In the State of North Carolina grandparents does not not visitation right. NORTH Carolina have a law that only allow visitation right for grandparents if the parents are fighting for custody of the child, like in an intact home and the grandparent have a relation with the child/ children... In this days in age, the are a lot of young adult that have kids, without any plan of Married or long term commitment, so the child is left without stability. The non- trading parent, place the child in the middle of their dysfunctional life, both parent does not want to go get right for the child , because they don't want the law to get involved, so the grandchild have to suffer because no one is fighting custody, or no one have custody, and both uses the child against each other , so the child and grandparents are separated because there is no legal or law that will honor visitation right for grandparent unless there is a custody battle, There should be a law that allow grandparent to be involve no matter what the circumstances are.
Change the law in North Carolina for grandmother's /grandparents to have visitation rights, at this ti e the award say grandparents can ask for visitation, but only if the is a custody battle between the parent and the child have a relationship with the grandparent. Well my situation and many other situations the parent are not married, and will never get married, both does parent not want to fight for custody, so they have no guidelines or guidance , so the grandchild suffer when the parent are not on speaking terms , and the parent keeps the child away form the grandmothers. This is happening more, and more, so please help give grandparents more right to be involve, because they are suffering.
