People First – NOT Lobbyist

No elections can be free and clear if there is dark money involved.
If dark money is involved, then it cannot be called a democracy.
Then it means someone else is calling the shots and the common man is at loss and so is his voice through the vote he casts.

One way to ensure that your elected representative is doing thing for your benefit is by making sure that this lobbying money is curtailed, thus the representative doesn’t have to work to get the money for his re-election rather he has to work to ensure that he is actually representing the people who elected him there.
How do we make sure this can happen?
One way is making it a level playing field.
1) Any person who wants to run for any position for any government office gets certain levels of signatures. Eg.: If you want to run for president you may need 200,000 signatures to be able to run for that office. A governor for a state may need 150,000 signatures and so on.
2) Once the signature is obtained then he/she can register themselves and the govt. will give an allotted amount for the position they are running for.
3) The person cannot spend more money than what is allotted and have to keep an open book about the amount being spent. This will also ensure that the money is only spent for the position they are running for and will not be able to keep the balance for themselves. Currently the monies collected if not spent goes to the candidate and he does not have to give back. This petition will stop all that.
4) No third party (or hiding behind 501c) can produce ads for the candidates.
5) They start 3 months before the election and not 2 years before, this way the public can ensure work is done by their representative for which they were elected rather than their representative running around doing fund raising instead for their next election.
6) They stop all adverts 2 days before the election and stop all appearances as well.
7) Voting is moved to a weekend so poor people with multiple jobs can find the time to vote.

Congress is never going to pass such a law, as it is against their interest. Some go there to make money, other go there to do good however get corrupted by the system. Its up to the people to put this on the ballot and force this change. Let’s vote for us for a change and not against us.
