Students Against Gentrification: We Demand an End to the New Temple University Football Stadium

"School pride is one thing, but if you don't think of the local community, you betray what this school is supposed to stand for." -  Anonymous signer

As Temple University begins to expand it may be exciting to those who are part of the Temple community. However, surrounding this Temple bubble is a community filled with low socioeconomic Americans that are beginning to be pushed out, but Temple cannot just push poverty somewhere else if we have a say.

This football stadium is not only bad for the community surrounding Temple, but bad for the students attending the university. What does 'Temple Made' mean? Does it mean not caring about the community that may not be as fortunate? What does it mean to be Philly made?

As Temple Made students we stand with the North Philadelphia community and demand an end to the construction of a football stadium.

Being a Temple student is something we are proud of. We are proud of Temple's history that is embedded from past hard-working Owls. This petition is to show just how proud we are - we want to continue to hold the traditions that Temple stands for. We want to fight for our neighbors voices to be heard.

This petition is just the first step in many. Your signature shows your support towards the North Philadelphia community and its history. We have every intention to use this petition to prove to Temple University we care about people more than expanding.
