Redirect the Tulane Ave bus line off of Ulloa St.

The Tulane Ave bus line is the busiest bus line in the city. It runs non-stop, 24 hours. This is a critical bus line in New Orleans. Our neighborhood is concerned about the Ulloa St shortcut that is included in the route. Routing a busy bus route through a small residential one-way street is incredibly damaging and dangerous. The historic homes shake each time a bus rattles by (as frequently as every 15 minutes during peak route time). The neighbors are frequently woken by the passing buses in the middle of the night. The small businesses are concerned about the safety of parking and walkability as the bus is often speeding with no stop signs to slow it down.

In addition to quality of life and economic concerns, the bus has destroyed the street on several occasions. Ulloa St is not made for heavy commercial traffic. The buses cause pot holes and at one point caused a pot hole so large that the bus actually broke down in it, forcing costly street repairs. In addition to the damage and street repairs, the buses have collapsed the catch basins. According to sewerage and water board, the catch basins on Ulloa have been damaged and one is so badly broken that it can no longer function. This is evident as the corner of Ulloa & S. Scott is one of the most flooded during storms.

We are asking that the city move the bus back to Tulane Ave, as previously promised. The construction has been completed for over a year.

Please consider the main issues:
1. resident quality of life
2. pedestrian and bicyclist safety
3. economic impact on the developing corridor
4. costly infrastructure damage and street repairs
5. increased flooding due to drain damage
