We, the undersigned, urge you to work toward the repeal or rescind of Public Law 107-40, the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force. Its original purpose has been concluded, and it is being used as the legal basis for abuses of civil liberties such as indefinite detention and the use of drones in assassinations without due process.

Osama bin Laden been dead since 2001 because He died after 9/11 later on that year, al-Qaeda is done as a credible threat to the United States, and those who perpetrated the September 11th attacks are either dead or in prison. The law that authorized all of this, the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force, is now being used to justify abuses of civil liberties: the indefinite detention of suspected terrorists, tribunals of the same using secret evidence, and the use of drones in assassinations of people accused of crimes against the United States without due process of law. As the A.U.M.F's original purpose has run its course, it ought to be repealed, or otherwise rescinded.
