Boycott China/South Korea: Stop Dogs & Cats Eating***Boicot China/Corea: No a la Matanza de Mascotas

Dog meat is considered a delicatessen by a minority of the population in some Asian countries, like China and South Korea, where every day hundreds (if not thousands) of dogs and cats are served as food at meat markets after suffering a painful and slow death by being skinned off, boiled or roasted alive.
In addition, each summer in China, people celebrate the Yulin Festival, a tradition in which thousands of dogs and cats, taken from the street and, in most cases, stolen from their owners, are boiled or roasted alive. The belief is that the flesh of these animals contains high nutritional value and cooking them alive attract good luck and health.
In South Korea, there is a three-day dog meat soup "celebration" called Bok-nal that stretches out for a month. This year Bok-nal is approaching 1st day for that is 13th July, 23rd July and 12th August. A million dogs will be thrown into hot boiling pot for the soup. Besides, South Korea is the only country in the world where dogs are bred in deplorable conditions in thousands of farms to be served as food for human consumption.
We, people from around the world, understand that Chinese and Korean people are the ones responsible for dealing with this barbaric custom. We feel a great respect and show are supported to the thousands of Chinese and Korean activists who actively fight against this cruelty on the ground and for those owners that lost their beloved pets in such horrific manner. We understand that a great part of Chinese and Korean population is against this cruelty and consider dogs and cats loving animals and friends.
We also believe that we need to collaborate with Chinese and Korean activists and pet's owner to fight against the unwillingness of Chinese and Korean authorities to stop these barbaric acts, because if we keep silence, we are accomplices of this atrocity. Therefore, we declare our boycott to all goods and products "Made in China" or "Made in South Korean", including vehicles (Kia, Hyundai), clothing, food and beverages (restaurants), electronics (Daewoo, LG, SAMSUNG), toys and tourist services, until dogs and cats eating be stopped.
This petition will be directed to all embassies and consulate offices of the People's Republic of China and South Korea around the world, as well as to the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The letters will be send every three or four months, so Chinese and Korean authorities could check the increment in the number of clients who are not buying Chinese and South Korean products anymore.

Las autoridades chinas y coreanas permiten el maltrato continuo de animales en su país. Diariamente, perros y gatos (incluyendo cachorros) son cocinados vivos, hervidos o asados, en los mercados de carne. Los perros y gatos son cogidos de la calle o , en la mayoría de los casos, robados a sus dueños en zonas rurales.
Además, cada año con el solsticio de verano, alrededor de 10.000 mil perros y gatos son masacrados en China como parte del llamado Yulin Festival. Una vez más, estos animales son cogidos de la calle o robados a sus familias para ser cocinados (hervidos o asados) vivos durante las "celebraciones". Las personas que participan en este festival, tienen la falsa creencia de que la carne de estos animales contiene un gran valor nutritivo y que cocinarlos vivos les traerá salud y buena suerte.
En Corea del Sur existe un "festival" parecido, Bok-nal, que se extiende durante tres días y que este año se celebra el 13 de julio, el 23 de julio y el 12 de agosto, cuando casi un millón de perros serán hervidos vivos para hacer sopa. Además, Corea del Sur es el único país del mundo que tiene miles de granjas donde perros son criados en condiciones lamentables para consumo humano.
Entendemos que los países son los responsables de modificar tradiciones que no se adaptan a los tiempos y que la población china y coreana debe enfocar este asunto de manera interna. Valoramos y apreciamos hasta el infinito el coraje de los activistas chinos y coreanos que hacen un trabajo impresionante para crear consciencia sobre esta crueldad, incluso arriesgando su integridad física. Asímismo, sentimos un hondo pesar por todos aquellos dueños de mascotas que pierden a sus amigos de esta forma tan atroz con la complicidad de las autoridades que no hacen lo suficiente para frenar esta barbarie.
También creemos que debemos colaborar con estos activistas y dueños de mascotas porque, de otra manera, si nos callamos ante el maltrato nos convertiremos en cómplices. Por tanto, creemos que los ciudadanos del mundo, debemos contribuir a detener esta barbarie en la medida de nuestras posibilidades. Por ello, pedimos el boicot de todas las mercancías y productos fabricados en la República Popular de China y en Corea del Sur, incluyendo coches (Hyundai, Kia), juguetes, ropa, comida (restaurantes), electrodomésticos (Daewoo), móviles (Samsung, LG), centros de ocio y, por supuesto, servicios turísticos. Estamos convencidos que esta medida, el boycott comercial, será más efectividad.
Abrimos esta petición que será enviada a todas las embajadas y oficinas consulares de la República de China y de Corea del Sur para declarar nuestra intención de no participar en esta masacre de animales inocentes hasta que las autoridades chinas no pongan fin a este comportamiento indigno del siglo XXI y comiencen un proceso para educar y crear consciencia sobre el respeto animal entre su población. Las cartas serán enviadas cada pocos meses para que las autoridades chinas puedan comprobar el aumento en el número de potenciales clientes que están perdiendo.

We, people from around the world, declare our intention of not purchasing any good or product "Made in China" and "Made in South Korea", until Chinese and South Korean authorities don't stop dogs and cats eating, by taking measures to create awareness among your population regarding animal rights. We are ashamed by the dogs and cats eating at your meat markets and the way in which those animals are stolen from their homes and cooked alive or bred in deplorable conditions in farms. For most of us, who consider our pets like parts of our families, this is simply unacceptable.
Animals are living creatures and, as such, they deserve the same respect and have the same rights than human beings.
It is not acceptable that countries like China and South Korea, that desire to open themselves to the world through their inmigrants and markets, continue hurting the feelings of millions of people who live in that market that Chinese and South Korean people want to join, as well as the feelings of a great part of the Chinese and South Korean societies who also consider dogs and animals as companions and friends and not as food.
We understand that Chinese and South Korean people are the ones responsible for dealing with this barbaric custom. However, animal cruelty cannot be hidden behind "traditions" and if we keep silence, we are accomplices of this atrocity. Therefore, we declare our boycott to all goods and products "Made in China" and "Made in South Korea", including vehicles, toys, clothing, food and beverages (restaurants) and tourist services, until dogs and cats eating be stopped.

Los abajo firmantes, les hacemos llegar nuestra decisión de no adquirir ningún producto con las etiquetas "Made in China" y "Made in Korea", hasta que las autoridades chinas no tomen medidas para impedir que perros y gatos sean utilizados como alimento, educando y creando consciencia entre su población con respeto al maltrato animal. Estamos escandalizados por la manera en la que perros y gatos son vendidos en los mercados de carne y cocinados vivos, Para nosotros, como para gran parte de la sociedad china, estos animales son muy apreciados como mascotas y, en muchas ocasiones, son una parte integral de nuestras familias.
Los animales son seres vivos que merecen el mismo respeto y tienen los mismos derechos que los seres humanos.
No es plausible que países como China o Corea del Sur que se abren al mundo a través de su comercio y de la presencia de sus inmigrantes en otros países, puedan seguir hiriendo millones de sensibilidades en ese mundo al que pretende sumarse.
Entendemos que los países son los responsables de modificar tradiciones que no se adaptan a los tiempos y que la población china y coreana debe enfocar este asunto de manera interna. Sin embargo, el maltrato animal no puede ampararse en tradiciones y la tortura animal no tiene fronteras, callar ante estos casos de maltrato nos convertiría en cómplices de esta masacre. Por tanto, creemos que los ciudadanos del mundo, debemos contribuir a detener esta barbarie en la medida de nuestras posibilidades. Por ello, pedimos y apoyamos el boicot de todas las mercancías y productos fabricados en la República Popular de China y en Corea del Sur, incluyendo coches, ropa, comida (restaurantes), centros de ocio y, por supuesto, servicios turísticos.
