Last week Melrose Park Neglected Dogs posted on their Facebook wall the story of
a homeless man named Jose, who had started caring for a black Labrador and her seven,
3-week-old puppies. The homeless man was not seeking help for himself, he wanted to find loving homes
and medical care for the dogs he cares for.
Aside from feeding and caring for the seven puppies and their mom, Jose also cares
for four other stray dogs, their litters, and an additional street dog.
“Jose is a very depressed homeless man living near the Budweiser Brewery in Houston Texas.
He wants nothing for himself just dog food and someone to take the dogs in,” posted the rescue group
in a YouCaring Page set up to help the homeless dogs.
As soon as Melrose Park Neglected Dogs learned about the homeless man they decided to help
and started asking their Facebook community members to help in any way they could.
Thanks to the social network, a foster family was found. However, the group still hopes
a rescue organization steps up and welcomes the dogs into one of their program.
Today, Jose’s wishes came true when volunteers from the organization headed out
to meet Jose and rescue the seven puppies and their mom.
Melrose Park Neglected Dogs not only rescued this family of eight, but they also saved
another dog who has been acting as surrogate mom for the puppies.
