BSL is Breed Specific Legislation for those of you who did not know. Certain states in our country ban the existance of pit bulls of any kind. They consider them harmful, dangerous, viscious, and mean. I say they are wrong. I have an American pit bull and she is the sweetest dog in the world. She wouldnt hurt a fly. As a matter of fact the dog across the street from us tried to attack her and she was actually scared and didnt try to attack back. Now, is that mean or viscous? She is a pit bull who didnt try to attack. My goal is to abolish BSL in the U.S. There are many pit bull owners out there who can tell you that a pit bull is the best, sweetest, and most loving dog they ever had. In fact some pit bulls are even Family Dogs. A pit bull is what you make of it. After all, Any dog can bite.

We the Undersigned have started a petition to abolish BSL. We understand many people think of Pit bull as mean, harmful, and dangerous breeds but with all due respect they are not correct. I can show you many full blood pit bulls who are the sweetest and friendliest dogs you will ever meet. Many people love pit bulls and it would be a shame to ban a breed that doesnt deserve it. Any dog can fight and any dog can bite. It all depends on how the owner raises it. Thank you so much for taking the tome to read my letter.

I don't think pit bulls are dangerous. It is people that make them that way. They are just as sweet as any other dog. My thoughts on pit bulls>>>I absolutely love pit bulls. I have one of my own, at one time I had 15 pit bulls under my roof! (To include a litter of newborn puppies) I wouldn't have any other dog. I oppose anyone trying to ban pits. Right now it is so hard to even find a decent house because I have a pit bull. Pits are not dangerous unless you raise them that way, and I cannot stress that enough. My pit, Onyx, is almost 2 years old. Since he has grown, I have only heard him bark MAYBE 3 times. Literally. He is the most laid back gentle dog I've even came in contact with in my entire life. If my husband or I hear him bark, we know something is wrong. Pits are naturally protective as any other dog, so what's so bad about pits? Because people fight them? Ok, so what if they started fighting German Shephards or Chows or any other dog for that matter? Are they going to ban those dogs as well?!

My husband and I adopted a pitbull 3 years ago. I can't begin to tell you how loving this little girl is. She is the sweetest and most loving dog you would ever meet GREAT with everyone ( kids, babies, other dogs). I have never meet a sweeter dog. Have any of these ignorant BSL jackasses ever checked out the American Temperament Test Society which tests dogs temperaments??? Well- American Pit Bull Terrier as well as the Staffordshire Terrier tested the same as the Golden Retriever. The Poodle, Beagle, Cocker Spaniel, Chihuahua, Lhasa Apso all couldn't come close to the Pitbulls tests scores. The Lhasa Apso was one of the lower scores. i believe that any animal has the potential to be dangerous. humans are one of the most dangerous! trying to wipe out an entire breed of beautiful creatures based on the ignorance of man! a shame... a breed of dog can't be segregated any more than the ethnicity of humans. there are mean and kind people no matter their race, just as there are mean and kind dogs no matter their breed. a dog is a reflection of their owner. teach a child to be cruel-hearted and that is the life they will lead. teach a dog to be ruthless and viscous and they will live that behavior. i lived next to two pit bulls for a time. they were just as sweet as could be, both well mannered and well tempered. just big loveable puppies! ever loyal to their owner. i couldn't fear them. i admire them.

Not all pitbulls are attack dogs. Any dog can be TRAINED to be an attack or fighting dog. Just because some people point out that it is pitbulls I will guarentee that my poodle or my other small dogs can do the same harm as any other dog. People tell me that labs are suppose to be the kindest most gentle dogs around. I can tell you from erxperince not all labs are that way. I was bit from one and had to have several surgeries for reconstruction of my hand so that I could use it again. If pitbulls are out lawed than all dogs should be out lawed. Which is just as stupid. If any dog bits and draws blood than they should be taken care of (that is any breed).

No I do not think the BSL is fair and maybe they should be out lawed. No not all pitbulls are dangerous only those that have been raised as attack or fighting dogs and that is not just pitbulls. And in closing I do own a pitbull that is more loving than my poodle or other small dogs. In fact he is afraid of them and listens to them when they tell him what to do.

Me and my family just got our new blue pit Brodie as a family dog, and he's the cutiest thing ever, and a just a big baby! So was his dad! I have been around quite a few pits and NEVER had one hurt me or my children, and I have never been scared of them... other dogs I have. This whole thing really makes no sence and really upsets me, because it's true, any dog can bite, and any dog can be tought to fight, not just pit bulls.

I had the love of my life for 13 years he was a Black and White Pitbull named Sharkey the best breed of dog I ever owned. I have own over 10 different breeds and pits or number 1 in my book. My dog got along with ever animal and every human he ever came in contact with. He wanted to please me and love me to the end. I just put him to sleep last night and feel such a great loss. I am so angry at ignorant people. If you never owned a Pitbull keep your mouth shut.

I do not believe that BSL is fair because you cannot and should not take for granted that all owner of this type of animal(Pit Bull) is taught to be viscious. In my opinion all owners of any kind can of dog can train any kind of dog various commands. I think society should take a closer look at what they believe in from animals to global warming to rent control to same sex marriages to building of home. What would the world be like if we did away with animals,and few races. Then what... I have a pit I got her from the humane society aat the age of 9 months. She was there for nine months well feed energergize and much happier when my husband and I adopted her. I love my pit she evens gets along with my cat. You can make a dog as viscious as you like but with proper training an owner can control there animals accordingly. The last thing I would want to do is abuse my animals. As of today I have to relocate my dog and family because of pet restrictions. I will not give up my dog... I will not give her back to the shelter if I can help it.

I believe that BSL is wrong and not fair. I alson think that pitbulls are only doing what they are trained to do. They just need love and a responible owner.

I am a Pit Bull owner, I could not be more proud of that then if I said my kid just walked. I have owned a few dogs in my life never a pit. When we got her I had my issues at first about owning a pitty like I am sure alot of people do, however I belive that everone should be given a chance. I have 3 cats and 3 little girls and was a little set back about owning a pit. I can tell you that owning a pit has it rewards and set backs. I say set backs I don't even know if that is what you call it. The only thing that she gets in trouble for is chewing and eating everthing in the house, but you give her a toy and she is happy and will chew on that all day. Any dog can be mean and scary. Raise them with love and understanding and they can be the best part of the family. I would NEVER give her up. My husband is in the Navy and we move when we have to and I can tell you that my husband and I came to a understanding that when we move and where ever we move you can bet that she and the cats and the kids of course will go. If LeeLoo is not welcomed to where we go then we will not go there. There should not be a stamp put on any animal until you really get to know them. You would not want someone to judge you before they got to know you so why do it to a pit. I think that ANY dog can be dangerous. Lets think about that, if you where trown outside no water no food no love, would you trust a human? A dog is like a little child you have to raise them with love a firm but loving hand. Pits are all about making there humans happy.

i have a pitbull her name is Sadie, I got her from a shelter. She was abused from her previous owner and left to die. She is so sweet and im glad i got her. i believe its not the dogs fault its the owners fault and the law should do more to the people who do dog fights and protect the rights of pitsbulls.
