Protect Students With a Supervisory Adult on the Afternoon Buses!

For the past few weeks, my children and some of their friends have been bullied on the bus ride home from school. It started with words and ended in physical assault against one of my kids. After taking a stand and pursuing action, I found that my children are not the only ones. But they don't all speak up for fear of getting in trouble, either with the bully or with the adults they tell. According to our schools vice principal, they were told that having an adult to supervise the ride home and protect the kids on board, was cut from the budget. Bullying is at an all time high. Kids are hyper on that ride home. They don't sit still. Even when I'm standing at the street corner to meet them, most kids are standing already before the bus stops. They are jumping and throwing things. They are yelling at each other. I think its time we demand that the budget be revisited and an additional adult needs to be reinstated on the afternoon buses. They need to be the ones watching kids. Keeping them seated. Making sure that the bullies are not verbally or physically abusing others.
