Change discriminatory dress code

The dress code adopted by Sanger ISD is appalling to say the least. Not only is it discriminatory, it's sexist and damaging. Boys and girls are held to different standards of dress, religious and minorities are singled out, and it evokes an air of classism as it singles out low income students. This poor dress code teaches our children they will be judged by their appearance, not by their intellect, which is why they are in school in the first place. It teaches girls that they are responsible for being judged for their bodies, and teaches boys they don't have to control themselves because if a bra strap is showing "she's asking for it." Our children are here to learn, not for you to police their fashion choices. It teaches kids to focus on those who are different, or in your words "distracting." Blue hair, a man with a bun, or a girl with a hole in her shorts has never been distracting, and if it is you need to focus more of respect and maybe put together a seminar for teacher, students and parents that teaches to we are in control of our own actions. Sanger ISD we will take this all the way to the ACLU if you do not make changes. We have parents, students and community members willing to fund our fight and we will not stop until you cease all discrimination.
