Close Down Del Mar Racetrack After Death of 16 Horses!

Horses are such beautiful and amazing animals and to see them galloping along in a graceful manner makes most of us feel wonderment and awe.  Unfortunately, racing these animals often leads to horrible abuse and is not in the best interest of their natural demeanor and well-being.

At San Diego's Del Mar Racetrack at least 16 horses have died since the 2016 racing season began in July. This is outrageous, and until this horrible death toll is investigated and effective solutions put in place to keep horses safe, the track must be shut down.

Although an investigation internally is underway, the proper step to take in protecting the remaining horses at Del Mar is to close down the racetrack until authorities get definite results and answers from in-depth research and inspection of the facility.

Animal activists are highly concerned about mistreatment and possible abuse of the horses with the animal’s well-being at heart.  The purpose of this petition is to ensure that Del Mar is shut down completely and immediately until the full investigation is completed with answers and recommendations.

Anyone in violation of race horse treatment protocals at the racetrack that led to the demise of these animals need to be held accountable and the racetrack must meet specific standards before considering reopening.

You can help with this issue by signing and sharing this petition, adding your own thoughts and comments with the well-being of these horses in mind.

CEO of Del Mar Races – It is so disturbing and heartbreaking that eight horses lost their lives at this racetrack through mysterious circumstances.  In lieu of this tragedy, the Del Mar Racetrack needs to be shut down immediately while undergoing an extensive investigation.  It should not be reopened until there are results and answers from the research and inspection of Del Mar.  Should there be any violations of horse abuse, cruelty or neglect of any of the animals by any trainers, handlers or other racetrack staff, they need to meet with serious repercussions and accountability.  Del Mar must not resume any business until it meets with the highest standards of health and safety for the animals with proper care and handling by all responsible for their care.
