Nevada- Stop Killing Mountain Lions and Relocate Them

A mountain lion was shot and killed in Elko, Nevada, by state wildlife officials. It was considered a threat to public safety for being in a residential area.Elko Police Captain said it's the first mountain lion he's heard of venturing into town in the 22 years he's lived there.

If wildlife officals had arrive at the scene and could pull a trigger to kill the mountain lion, why could they have not just as easily shot the animal with tranquillizer and relocated it to another area that would not create a conflict with humans?

We ask the Governor of Nevada to increase wildlife training and direct staff to look into rehabilitation and relocation programs and encourage wardens to utilize nonlethal options, such as tranquilizers, when responding to mountain lion incidents.
