Protect the Port Everglades, protect the marine life

All plans of Army Corps of Engineers so far do not show any improvement with their practices on the Port Everglades after the company destroyed 200 acres of coral reefs in Miami, Florida.

I, the undersigned, would like to petition the Army Corps of Engineers to learn from their mistake and step back from their plans to improve and expand Port Everglades. According to an issued report, hundreds of reefs were destroyed due to their multiple failures during the implementation of their project in the state of Miami. The marine wildlife and waters situated in Port Everglades is delicately containing various species of marine animals and protective habitats. The essentiality of these coral reefs must not be compromised just because of a proposed project which had a bad record in their last implementations, thus, I believe that the Corps’ present plan must be stopped.

The coral reefs are of great importance especially when hurricanes and storm surges would happen so the marine wildlife deserves not to be touched but rather have a better safeguard. The protection of the port is tantamount to the safety of the people and for further developments of the tourism industry in the state.

Thank you for considering my petition.

Sincerely,

the underdesigned,
