Tell Bendigo Council - 'No' to Recommendation 8

  • by: Bendarts
  • recipient: Mayor Cr. Peter Cox and the City of Greater Bendigo Council

Recommendation 8 would see Council withdraw it's financial support for the arts and culture in Bendigo and surrounds.

Recommendation 8 would:

- see diminishing opportunities for not only the current generation of artists, writers, performers, musicians and film makers but also for those that follow,

- significantly cut the large tourist numbers our Art Gallery currently brings to the city and the dollars those tourists inject into our economy,

- deny access to some in our community including school groups, the elderly and those with an impairment to the arts,

- damage Bendigo's reputation for being a vibrant, sophisticated, progressive city and region.

These are just some of the effects of Recommendation 8. It's a regressive policy not a progressive one.
